04 Nov SPOTTED: Fizz Carpet At Holiday Inn Express

We spoke to DeAnna Dasher from DeAnna Dasher Interior Design about her installment of our Fizz carpet designed by Stacy Garcia for Lexmark Hospitality. The carpet was used at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Philadelphia to help create the youthful and sophisticated design they were aiming for. We spoke to DeAnna on her inspiration process while completing this project!

Designer/Firm:
DeAnna Dasher Interior Design

Name/Type of Property: Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Location: Fort Washington, PA

What was your project inspiration:
This customized Prototypical Design (HIEX Formula Blue) Conversion project was inspired by the historical location, with specific changes to the design scheme made to create a more youthful, yet sophisticated overall design.

Why did you choose Fizz by Stacy Garcia Commercial for Lexmark Hospitality as the carpet for this project?
I wanted to add a more organic and graphical element to the room design that would not fight with some of the bolder fabric combinations we were using. We also wanted to use a broadloom design in these rooms, rather than a carpet tile product. We used  a running line color, Egg Cream, which I liked that it had a great neutral background and the warmer brown tones perfectly compliment the casegood color.

Did you use any other Stacy Garcia product for this project?
Not on this one, but many others.

What are you working on next?
I am excited to be working on 2 full-service hotel conversions, including coordinating some of the F&B concepts within those properties. I am also working on a new Cuban restaurant concept for a local client, where we are handling the graphic design as well as interior design package and initial marketing materials.

Where do you look for design inspiration?
The world around us, that could be interiors, but more so the great outdoors. My studio is based in Jim Thorpe, PA which is a wonderfully inspiring place to be as a designer. It combines stunning views and hiking, with historic architecture, mostly from the Victorian era, great boutique shops and art galleries, small hotels and bed and breakfast type places, dining, etc. Inspiration can be found talking to tourists from all around the world at our hotel bar, walking along the river, hiking on the mountain, or taking in local music. When I design hotels, I look for that same thing, what truly makes each place special. I think about what guests will see and do and try and relate the design back to that in every way possible.

What’s your favorite space to design? How do you make it stand out?
Restaurants and F&B Spaces; designing in a way that makes the interior design and ambiance a supporting role in the cuisine served.

Which colors and materials do you use the most?
5 years ago mostly earthtones, a lot of greens and a lot of patterning. Now its transitioned to a more gray-taupe palette, and the hot colors are more reserved and the patterns tend to be in large-scale carpet or wall-covering and less on furniture, unless its a pillow or small element.

How would you describe your personal design style?
Downhome Chic

If you weren’t an Interior Designer, what would your profession be?
Marketing, Graphic Design or some type of creative services or full time musician or chef!
