For our introductory episode of Design Uncensored, we travel to the Museum of Sex in Manhattan to expose the topic of sensual design with Interior Designer, Darrin Varden of Darrin Varden Design.
Darrin’s alluring design aesthetic and thoughtful design approach first struck us back in November when our paths crossed at Holiday House NYC. There, Varden designed a sultry lair celebrating love and the 364 days that get you to Valentine’s Day.
Varden’s mentors in the design world include noted designer and architect Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz and famed design star Jamie Drake. Varden was recently named “Rising Star of Design” by the IFDA
Filled with passion and energy, Varden’s stimulating bedroom encapsulated the essence of sexy, dimensional design.
“I’m putting a 50 Shades of Varden spin on my Valentine’s Day room with unexpected design elements. I’m combining the chic pieces with the sensational,” adds Varden. A Fireco Coffee table from Phillips Collection that replicates smoldering molten lava intensifies the dark vibe of the room. “I was drawn to the harsh and rugged texture of the sides of the table paired with a high gloss surface on top,” explains the designer.
