01 Aug Cannúa: A New Era of Experiential Travel

Travel takes an holistic approach with innovative lodging concept, Cannúa, as it becomes the first boutique hotel to be set within a protected forest in Antioquia, Colombia. Now you can indulge in a place of rejuvenation, reconnection and cultural discovery as you occupy the “first-of-its-kind” retreat comfortably knowing it’s rooted in permaculture design principles – care for the earth, care for people, and fair share. See the mountain-side property and some of the breathtaking views below!

Co-Exist with Nature

Working with a team of local experts in bioclimatic design, permaculture, and architecture, Cannúa’s design adheres to local architectural styles and work with the natural elements unique to its location. This is reflected in the building materials, which include sustainably-sourced bamboo and compressed earth blocks produced on-site. Cannúa’s 10-rooms and eight private cabañas blends these locally-influenced aesthetics with modern amenities, as well as offer spectacular panoramic views of the region’s Valle de San Nicolas.

Feel Good About Your Footprint

Adding to the sustainable design concept, 70% of Cannúa’s water is supplied by grey water and rainwater while two acres of the 27-acre property is a dedicated organic garden and permaculture food forest meant not only to feed lodge guests but also to encourage the growth and wellness of local animal and plant life.

Go Beyond the Cabanas

Offering an incredible host of exceptional experiences both on and off-site, guests can take guided hikes along pre-Hispanic heritage trails, go on birdwatching expeditions, take part in on-site coffee tastings, visit local coffee and flower farms, and take day trips.

Experience Good Ethics

As it continues to grow, Cannúa intends to be an example of sustainability to other Colombian and eco-travel-based businesses by building a culture of respect, transparency, and collaboration with its employees, community, partners, guests and natural surroundings.
