12 Nov Color Crush: Purple Twilight

This month we are crushing on Purple Twilight, a dusty lavender with an surprising sense of spirituality. You’ll find this hue in the soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is just below the horizon, creating a feeling of mystery and wonder. Having a cloudy appearance, Purple Twilight blends beautifully with shades of both pink and blue, making this color rather versatile. Here are some tips for how you can incorporate this month’s Color Crush!

Relax and Unwind

In a soothing space, such as a bedroom, paint Purple Twilight on a statement wall. You’ll instantly be transported into a sort of dream world. Wonderful for deep sleep and relaxation, Purple Twilight will help you to escape the chaos of reality while adding a fun pop of color to your room.

Twilight Zone

Create a whole new atmosphere of excitement and curiosity with Purple Twilight. Utilize futuristic lighting in this soft purple hue to enhance feelings of connectivity and attraction in your space, such as employed in the BASH Bar designed by Karim Rashid. Public spaces like bars and lounges are ideal for this design technique, as these are places we go to feel relaxed yet enticed by our surrounding environment.

Playing with Light

We spoke to Senior Designer, Sue Kim, at Valspar who gave us some insight on how this color reacts with certain lighting – “A light, clean violet like Purple Twilight reflects the edge of light in both artificial and familiar ways. When we use this violet in a connecting space like an entryway, a matte finish will help reflect the warm glow from the lights and pair well with the clean and transparent finishes to experience this mysterious violet.”
