21 Dec Holiday House Recap 2015

Holiday House was founded by Iris Dankner who is a breast cancer survivor. She founded Holiday House eight years ago in the hopes of raising breast cancer awareness in the design industry. This event recruits top interior designers to show off their fabulous work within the Academy Mansion located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. All proceeds from this event go towards the quest to end breast cancer.

Our space was sponsored by York Wallcoverings, DecoRada Wallcovering Installation, Farrow & Ball, West Flooring & Design, King Rose Construction, Galerie Protégé, Serkan Altinoz, Paul Thomas, Itinerant Studio, Let There Be Neon, Chelsea Frames, Apex Art Installation, Billy Cotton, Aurora Vitrum and Phillips Collection. We decided to bring Arbor Day to life in our space by choosing pieces that represented nature and meditation, including multiple wallpapers from Stacy Garcia | New York.

Accessories that we included in our space were Gold Leaf Stools from Phillips Collection, a neon sign that read “Flower Shop” from Let There Be Neon and an eucalyptus scent that filled up the room. The gold leaf stools brought the outdoors indoors and the gold finish made them the perfect touch of sophistication. The Neon sign drew people in with it’s bright color and green beaming light. The eucalyptus relaxed attendees while leaving a mark on their senses. The three art pieces we used were, “Driftwood 4Square” by Itinerant Studio, “Purple Comes Before Green” by Serkan Altoniz and “Endless Possibilities” by Paul Thomas. All three pieces were different yet flowed together naturally. The mixture of water paint, photography and canvas art brought different aspects of art into our space. The two lighting fixtures we incorporated were the “5 stick pick up” from Billy Cotton and “Polaire in Brass” by Aurora Vitrum. The Billy Cotton fixture (seen below) resembled twigs and gave a forest feel while the Aurora Vitrum (seen above) was more modern while remaining polished.

We custom designed our floors with help from West Flooring & Design and King Rose Construction. This herringbone pattern consists of five colors in natural green hues. Each piece of the floor was hand painted and wire brushed to give it that used look.

All of the wallpaper in our space was from Stacy Garcia | New York. We used Wild Poppies on the hallway ceiling and sitting room walls, Aquarella for one of the hallway walls, Watercolor Strie for the sitting room ceiling and Grasscloth for the other hallway wall. The Wildpoppies was perfect for our space adding a natural cream color along with velvety texture that engaged attendees. Aquarella brought bright colors and a floral aspect to our space while Grasscloth added on to the outdoorsy feel. The Water Color Strie was the perfect mix of color and pattern with its blue stripes.
