Kitchen in NYC is serving up delicious plant-based meals with a side of good fate! Not only does this restaurant offer a stunning environment to dine in and a mouthwatering menu, but it is making a positive impact on the community. Learn how P.S. Kitchen is giving back in an interview with April Tam Smith.

Tell us a little about P.S. Kitchen’s mission?
“P.S. is a social business and artisanal, plant-based restaurant with a mission to create jobs for those marginalized in New York, such as clients of our partnering organizations. We donate 100% of profits to sustainable charitable work locally and overseas as well as provide New Yorkers with delicious food options that are kind to the body and the earth. Opened since August 2017, one of our biggest accomplishments so far has been employing over 40 people from different partner programs. In that group of over 40 people we have employed folks both currently and previously homeless, previous victims of domestic violence and previously incarcerated folks. Many of them had been looking for jobs for years.”

You describe P.S. Kitchen as a social business and artisanal, plant-based restaurant. How did this impact your decision for the restaurant’s aesthetic?
“We hired local designers to create an inviting, calm, relaxing vibe inside P.S. We want people to feel comfortable and at home at P.S.”

When we come to visit P.S. Kitchen, what dish do you most highly recommend?
“Our Signature Dish is the P.S. Burger, but my favorite items are on our brunch and lunch menus. Our sandwiches at lunch are awesome and our brunch is one of the best in the city!!!”

You mention that you also have a P.S. Impact Shop. Can you tell us a little about the type of product you offer and why?
“Sure! P.S. Impact Shop is our favorite causes, shared with you. We love showing off our friends whose work inspires us to be more just, generous, compassionate, and humane. Current ensemble is provided by NOMI Network (fighting sex trafficking) and Share Hope (empowering Haiti female garment workers). It’s more fun to shop with impact!”

What else would you like us to know about P.S. Kitchen?
“A reminder we are donating 100 percent of our profits to charity and we love your support! Every dollar you spend at P.S. fights injustice around the world and locally while supporting local New Yorkers who have been given a second chance! We do private events and are open late, we have a brunch, lunch, dinner and late night menu as well as a full bar with an amazing wine and cocktail list! We are open 7 days a week and are open until 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!”
