20 Dec Sketch: The Most Instagrammed Restaurant in the World

Look familiar? That’s because this is the world’s most ‘Instagrammable’ restaurant. Sketch’s home,
9 Conduit Street in London, builds on the establishment’s heritage as a destination for experimentation in design, art and architecture. With five rooms created by different designers, guests have a distinct experience depending on where they are seated, which makes this restaurant so unique.

The Gallery

Known as a space drenched in Millennial pink and furnished with plump, soft seats to dine at, the Gallery designed by David Shrigley has hosted over fifty exhibitions of artists’ moving image including work from renowned artists transforming it from a place to eat to a place for exploring exciting art.

The Glade

Step into the Glade, an enchanted forest of evergreen featuring 20th century stationary inspired wallpaper designs and a carpet that mocks a forest floor. Carved wooden shelves, rich velvet upholstery in distinctive shades of green, violet and cobalt blue, colored mirrored tabletops and a tinted glass ceiling transport you into a mystical fairytale making this a one-of-a kind dining experience.

The Lecture Room & Library

Ascend to the Lecture Room & Library, a grand, red-carpeted staircase leading to a pair of doubleheight doors that will take you to a quirky 18th century townhouse. This is the ideal setting for the sophisticated French cooking as the warm, regal color palette and lush textures create an experience that makes you feel like you’re being catered to in the most elegant, high-class way.

The Parlour

Experience 18th century France in this quirky and eccentric patisserie, restaurant and bar. Here you’ll find yourself going back in time to a high-class social club lounging on a variety of fashionable Louis XV style seating.

The East Bar & Pods

Set inside a giant, ultramodern globe, this fun cocktail bar will transport you to the future. The pods introduce you to a whole new way of using the “loo” as these strange, egg shaped bathrooms are scattered underneath a multi-colored ceiling where alien-inspired music spews from. This is definitely an out-of-this-world experience!

About Sketch, London

Sketch was conceived by restaurateur and designer Mourad Mazouz and French Masterchef Pierre Gagnaire. Together they leased the building following many years of neglect and decay. During the ambitious and innovative four-year restoration of 9 Conduit Street, Mazouz delicately remodelled the building, whilst retaining all possible original features with the assistance of architects The Manser Practice – the acclaimed London-based rm, which was founded in 1961.
